September 3, Labor Day Monday - WORKINGMAN'S HOLIDAY
DADE CITY, Come out to the Museum on Monday Sept 3rd, any time between 9 and 4 and enjoy a day in the country. This annual Labor Day event celebrates our opening of the Museum's grounds in 1975 and is lots of family fun. Specially featured this year will be old timey games for everyone in the family, including corn toss, horseshoes, tug o' war, and three-legged races. There will be bluegrass by the Barking Dogs and gospel music in the Enterprise Church. Our Country Fixin's concession stand will have lots of good things to eat and other snack vendors will, too. The day's schedule includes: 9:30 am - Opening Ceremony and Flag-Raising 10 am - 11 am - Fiddling Contest (Part 1) 11:15 am - Raid on the Overstreet House 11:30 - 2:00 pm - Fiddling Contest (Part 2) 2 pm - Another Raid! Also included in the festivities are arts & crafters, traditional craft demonstrations, BBQ Chicken Dinner (served noon to 4 pm). Additionally, most of the museum’s historic buildings will be open and the collections on display. Festival admission is $5 with no charge for children 6 and under. The museum also offers FREE parking and handicap accessibility. Please, no coolers or pets (service animals only). |
